Needs Assessment

Needs assessment involves gathering and analyzing information pertaining to the needs of impacted populations. The data gathered helps to identify discrepancies between established standards and the current state of affairs. Through needs assessment, prioritized, concise and relevant planning is facilitated by determining which communities and/or individuals require assistance, assessing the severity of their needs, and identifying the specific type of aid they require. We encourage our partners to conduct needs assessments in order to generate support from the community and groups for the actions they will undertake. This is due to the fact that when individuals express a need for a specific course of action, they are more likely to provide their support.
